Welcome

to make it – you set the pace. There’s so much to do on a Tillerman holiday
that there’s something to suit everyone,
perhaps you just want to take it easy and cruise
lazily through the untouched countryside, watching
the world go by, stopping for picnics, a drink
at the pub and some leisurely sightseeing, or maybe
you’d rather throw yourselves into an exhilarating
activity holiday of cycling, swimming, horse
riding and days out, topped off by fabulous nights
on
the town.
Unlike any other holiday you might take, on a
Tillerman boat you can wake up somewhere different
every day and enjoy exploring your new surroundings.

Children
just love a canal holiday and the family can have
great fun together, working as a team,
especially at the locks. Being out in the fresh,
open air all day will tire them out and they’ll
go out like a light at bedtime. Be ready for big
appetites though!
Safety is a priority for TILLERMAN and as part
of your training we will make sure you are
aware
of the safety considerations so that you and
we have peace of mind whilst you enjoy your
holiday.
We
provide life jackets for the under 12 year
olds and for those adults that prefer to wear
one – however remember the canals are
only about 5 feet deep so if you do accidentally
fall in then stand up. The boats are checked
annually and are safety certified. We will
explain what to do in the unlikely event of
an emergency and make sure you know how to
pass through the locks safely. Provided you
follow our procedures there is nothing to worry
about. |

No you will not need a license.
No. The waters are mostly current free and cruising speed
is only three to four miles per hour making driving a
boat child’s play. Don't worry if you have never
done it before, we give you full training (all included
in the price!)
You can moor up wherever you like find a nice spot and
tie up.
We ask that you arrive at 1:30pm on your arrival day
in order to provide sufficient time to check-in, load
the boat and receive the training and tour. On your day
of departure, you will need to vacate the boat no later
than 9.30am as we wish to avoid potentially penalising
the incoming guests.
Car parking is available at all Tillerman locations.
Many of our marinas are also close to main line railway
stations.
We do not operate day hire as our boats are equipped
with sleeping facilities. Our minimum rental period is
for 3 nights.
No. The boat and the Tillerman contents are fully insured
so if you have an accident do not worry. The only thing
that is not insured by us are (a) your car which is
probably protected under your motor policy and (b)
your personal possessions which are also probably covered
under your house contents insurance but please check
your own policies carefully.
Your Welcome Folder is full of information and good
advice. You can also purchase canal maps at the marina
or buy
maps online if you wish, which will show you where to
find bridges, water-points, villages and those essential
canalside pubs!
The dedicated Tillerman team are on hand twenty-four
hours a day, seven days a week for emergencies. Your
safety and enjoyment are our paramount concern.
